Listen to songs written by our poet-athletes and ASCAP artists!

The ASCAP Songwriter Residency @ America SCORES was launched in 2006 to create a collaboration between songwriters and students utilizing music as a way for our poet-athletes to express themselves. Award-winning ASCAP artists teach songwriting workshops as a part of America SCORES poetry classes. By the end of three 2-hour sessions, America SCORES poet-athletes have co-written and recorded a song with the ASCAP songwriter.

Shawn Clement, a composer who worked with America SCORES poet-athletes in Los Angeles, said of the program:

This program is amazing. It's awesome to see how the students really light up and work together in a positive way. You can really see them learn and have fun at the same time. I've enjoyed working with the ASCAP/America SCORES program immensely. I wish that they had a program like this that lasted throughout the school year. It's amazing to see how it makes the kids think and create beyond their normal activity.

Special thanks to The ASCAP Foundation for bringing this amazing program to our poet-athletes!
